Overview
Jose M. Villalon-Gomez earned his MD and MPH at Ponce Health Sciences University in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine / Jamaica Hospital in Jamaica, NY, where he served as Chief Resident. Before joining the faculty at Emory, he served as an Assistant Professor at Florida State University, Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Mercer University School of Medicine, and Augusta University-Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Villalon-Gomez has served as Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program since 2018. Dr. Villalon-Gomez brings an innovative approach to curriculum development and residency teaching. In addition, he actively serves on several committees with Emory's Graduate Medical Education office and the EmoryHealthcare system. Dr. Villalon-Gomez also serves as a preceptor to medical students and physician assistant students.
