Head shot of John Doran

Overview

Dr. Doran is originally from northeastern Pennsylvania and received a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from the University of Scranton. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed the remainder of his medical training at the Emory University School of Medicine, including an internal medicine residency and clinical and research fellowships in nephrology. After completion of his training in 1999, he joined the faculty in the Emory University Division of Renal Medicine. He is currently an assistant professor of medicine.

Dr. Doran is involved in clinical research projects based at Grady Memorial Hospital. He has previously been involved in basic science research in molecular biology, and has authored and coauthored several publications on urea transport.

At the Emory Clinic Clifton Rd. campus he is available for consultations in General Nephrology. There he treats patients with Chronic Kidney Disease due to a variety of diseases and disorders. This includes conditions such as diabetic kidney disease, hypertension, fluid and electrolyte disorders, nephritis, kidney stones, and post kidney transplant care. He cares for patients receiving dialysis at two practice locations, Emory Dialysis at Candler (hemodialysis) and Emory Dialysis at Northside (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis).
