Head shot of Jessica Spencer

Overview

Dr Jessica Spencer completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA. She then completed her Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship and received a Master of Science in Clinical Research at Emory University. Dr. Spencer joined the faculty at Emory in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in 2008. She has previously served as Division Director for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI), REI Fellowship Program Director, and Vice Chair for Education. Nationally, she serves on the executive board of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and is a board examiner for the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

She sees patients at Emory University Hospital Midtown and Emory University Hospital who are seeking treatment for infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, and fertility preservation.

She is an advocate for improving access to advanced reproductive care, particularly for the LGBTQIA+ community and patients with cancer.

Academic Appointment

  • Anne Winship Bates Leach Professor, Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics, Emory University School of Medicine

Education

Degrees

  • MSc from Emory University Rollins School of Public Health
  • MD from Tel Aviv University
  • BA from Brandeis University

Research

Focus

  • My research interests include investigating the mechanisms of premature ovarian failure in patients with galactosemia; we are currently examining a cohort of girls and women with galactosemia as they progress through puberty. In addition, I am part of a large scale investigation of fertility in cancer survivors. In the past, I have worked to develop single cell CGH arrays for preimplantation genetic screening in IVF and investigated the link, if any, between IVF and human methylation disorders.
