Overview

Jana Stockwell, MD, FCCM is a pediatric intensivist at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Emory University School of Medicine. Currently she is the Chair of the System Credentials Committee and formerly served as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Emory from 2010 to 2021. Dr. Stockwell was Editor-in-Chief for both editions of Comprehensive Critical Care: Pediatric, a pediatric intensive care board review textbook published by the Society of Critical Care Medicine. She served on the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Critical Care (SOCC) Executive Council and was the Editor-in-Chief of AAPs monthly board prep publication PREP-ICU for many years. She has participated in many committees and quality improvement endeavors with SCCM during her career and received SCCM's "Barry Shapiro, MD Award" in 2023. Currently, she serves on the Society of Critical Care Medicines (SCCM) Documentation and Coding Education Committee & Thrive Committee. She was elected to membership in the American Pediatric Society (APS) in 2013 and served on the Food & Drug Administrations (FDA) CDRH Device Resolution Panel from 2011 - 2018. She is interested in documentation and coding aspects of critical care.

Since 2016, Dr. Stockwell has volunteered in the Canines For Kids program at Childrens, serving as the handler for the Egleston PICUs therapy dog, Tidings (2016-2023) and now with Aston. In making hundreds of visits each year with patients, families and staff, the therapy dogs have brought comfort to many during stressful times and provided encouragement & motivation for mobility.
