Profile

Heidi Karpen MD

  • SOM: Peds: Neonatology
    Professor
  • (404) 785-6791
  • heidi.karpen@emory.edu
Head shot of Heidi Karpen

Academic Appointment

  • Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine

Education

Degrees

  • Doctor of Medicine from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
  • Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude from Wellesley College

Research

Focus

  • Neonates who require long-term parenteral nutrition are at a markedly increased risk of cholestasis and end stage liver disease, yet the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown. My research is focused on delineating the molecular mechanisms that interfere with normal bile flow in both an animal model and in infants with intestinal failure associated cholestasis.
