Overview

A Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Scholar, Georgia Chen, PhD, is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Chen is a well-trained molecular oncologist with experience in the molecular analyses of oncogene expression, gene regulation, cellular signal transduction, and using animal models for lung and head and neck cancer.

Focus

Head and neck cancer and lung cancer accounts for 25% of all cancer related deaths in the United States. Over the last 20 years, my research has focused and will continue to focus on: a. Identification of metastasis-related genes and proteins in lung and head and neck cancer.b. Study of signal transduction pathways in lung and head and neck cancer. c.Development of prognosis or therapeutic biomarkers of cancer. d.Chemoprevention of lung and head and neck cancer. e.Development of anticancer therapeutic drugs.
