Elizabeth Hechenbleikner
Overview
Dr. Hechenbleikner received her MD degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2009. Her postgraduate training included a general surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital (2009-2011, 2014-2017); a surgical research fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, during which she conducted studies related to colon cancer (2011-2014); a resident scholarship in patient safety and quality, also at Johns Hopkins (2013-2014); and a laparoscopic and advanced gastrointestinal surgery fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital (2017-2018).
During her residency at Georgetown University Hospital, she assisted in the development and implementation of an auditing tool to evaluate adherence to surgical time-out and debriefing processes in the operating room across surgical specialties.
Dr. Hechenbleikner's primary clinical site is Emory University Hospital Midtown, where she focuses on acute care surgery and bariatric surgery.
