Eric Elder PhD
Overview
Eric S. Elder, PhD, DABR is associate professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. His research, in the area of stereotactic rotational therapy for areas outside of the brain, combined with his clinical skills and hardware background complements the clinical image guided radiation therapy program at Winship.
Dr. Elder received his PhD and MS from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his BS from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He received his certification from the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics in 1997.
Dr. Elder's research interests are in computational microdosimetry, new treatment planning algorithms and novel delivery methods. He is involved in computational dosimetry projects with Georgia Techs Nuclear Engineering Department. He spends 50% of spring semester teaching on the Georgia Tech campus in the Medical Physics program.
He is also involved in the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics program, developing novel therapeutic approaches for the detection and treatment of cancer at the Winship Cancer Institute.
