Eric Friedberg
Overview
Eric B. Friedberg, MD, FACR is an associate professor of radiology and imaging sciences, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. Prior to joining Emorys faculty, Dr. Friedberg was an assistant professor of radiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, where he also completed his residency and two separate fellowships one in interventional radiology and a multiyear MRI fellowship. He has been active in teaching throughout his career, working with undergraduate and graduate students, healthcare professionals at all levels of training, and those in clinical practice.
A leader at all professional levels, Dr. Friedberg currently serves on Emory Universitys Continuing Medical Education Advisory Board. He also is the current President of the Georgia Radiological Society, serving a two-year term until the spring of 2025 and is currently serving a 3-year term on the Board of Directors for the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The ACCME leverages the power of education to drive quality in the medical profession and improve care for patients. As a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR), he has served on numerous committees and was recognized for his service with the ACRs Advocate of the Year Award in 2017. Dr. Friedberg has also served on the ACRs Council Steering Committee and served as the Vice Chair for the General, Small, Emergency, and/or Rural Practice Commission from 2019 until 2022. He has chaired and co-chaired numerous ACR Practice Parameter and Technical Standards subcommittees, in addition to founding the ACRs Veterans Administration Subcommittee, Teleradiology Subcommittee, Rural Practice and Critical Access Hospital Subcommittee, and U.S. Military Subcommittee. Most recently, Dr. Friedberg participated as an invited member of the ACRs research delegation to Cuba in October of 2023.
During his time as a partner in a private practice radiology group, Dr. Friedberg served on the executive committee for the New Jersey Radiological Society and in multiple Mountainside Hospital-related leadership roles, including as Chair of both the Vascular Center Task Force and the Clinical Resource Management and Leadership Committee.
Dr. Friedberg also previously served on the boards of three non-profit organizations which have a regional healthcare focus: the Mountainside Health Foundation and the Mountainside Hospital Foundation Board in Montclair, New Jersey; and Cool Girls in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Friedbergs publications primarily focus on diagnostic imaging and interventional practices and procedures relevant to community practice.
His undergraduate degrees are from Emory University, from which he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Following his time at Emory, Dr. Friedberg attended medical school at Hahnemann University, and, funded by National Institutes of Mental Health and Measey Foundation Grants, completed a research year in the University of Pennsylvanias Department of Neurosurgery.
