Elizabeth Urias
Overview
Dr. Elizabeth Urias is a board-certified cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery specialist.
A New Mexican native, Dr. Elizabeth Urias earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch/Houston Methodist hospital in Galveston, TX. Upon completion, she was awarded the silver scalpel award for excellent surgical skills as well as the senior resident teaching award for her dedication to teaching and mentoring younger generation of students. Dr. Urias then went on to complete a fellowship in cornea, cataract, external disease, and keratorefractive surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Urias is a first generation Mexican American and speaks both Spanish and English fluently. She enjoys serving her community through various student-run clinics and outreach clinics. In addition to being employed at Emory, Dr. Urias also practices at Grady, where she helps teach and mentor ophthalmology residents and fellows.
Dr. Urias focuses on providing customized treatment for her patients using the latest ophthalmologic advances. Her surgical interests include laser vision correction, refractive and complex cataract surgery, full-thickness and lamellar corneal transplants, corneal crosslinking, and ocular surface disease.
