Deborah Young MD
Overview
I am a 64-year-old IVY League educated Pediatric Emergency Physician who began working for Emory University and Egleston Childrens Hospital 1987. During that time there was no ED but we worked in the Acute Treatment Area, a closed Urgent Emergent area of the hospital working in a clinical capacity. Along with 3 of my peers currently working for PEMA we were the founding members of this Clinical Practice. By 1992 Egleston became an open ED/Trauma Center and I grandfathered into the discipline of Pediatric Emergency Medicine where have continued to work in this capacity for the past 30 years.
In the past 30 years I have interviewed most if not all of the current physicians, participated in the education of all of our fellows current and graduated. As core facility I have participated in all the credential processes of this division and fellowship.
As one of the older clinically experienced physicians I have defined my role as mentor and clinical advisor for the younger physicians. I have served and currently serve on the Advisory Council for the past 3 years, Teaching Council where I serve as the Physician Advisor for the Emory Family Medicine residents for the past 4 years, a member of the Emergency/Urgent Care Peer review committee for Egleston and Scottish Rite for the past 5 years and the Chairman of the Peer Review Committee for Hughes Spaulding Childrens Hospital 2017-2018. As a clinical professor of Emory I have dedicated my career to excellence in medical care as well as superlative education of the learners of every level.
