Dio Kavalieratos
Overview
Dio Kavalieratos, PhD FAAHPM is a health services researcher whose work focuses on development, evaluation, and implementation of models of palliative care delivery in serious chronic illness. Dr. Kavalieratos has expertise in qualitative methods, patient-reported outcomes, clinical trials, and evidence synthesis. Dr. Kavalieratos serves on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), and received the Academy's 2019 Early Career Investigator Award. Dr. Kavalieratos' work has been supported by a variety of public and private sources, including the NHLBI, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, National Palliative Care Research Center, and AHRQ. His research has appeared in journals such as JAMA, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the Journal of the American Heart Association, Chest, and Thorax, among others. His work has been featured or he has been quoted by media outlets including Reuters, NY Times, and STAT (Boston Globe). Dr. Kavalieratos is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Palliative Medicine. He is keenly interested in mentoring trainees of all disciplines and stages regarding research and quality improvement in palliative care.
