Head shot of Brian Robinson

Overview

Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology

Robinson, Brian S. (MD, PhD) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and works as a Gastrointestinal Pathologist in Emorys Division of Anatomic Pathology. His lab is focused on understanding how developmental signaling pathways, particularly ROS-related signaling pathways, influence intestinal epithelial homeostasis and contribute to tumorigenesis. Moreover, Dr. Robinson is interested in identifying mechanisms by which host microbial populations activate these cellular pathways, as well as, identifying novel effectors of tissue restitution in metazoans. Dr. Robinson recently received the Clinician Scientist Developmental Award from the American Cancer Society to investigate a novel proliferative checkpoint between the redox-sensitive transcription factor Nrf2 and proliferative phenotypes in the murine intestine. His lab utilizes a wide variety of cellular, molecular, genetic, and translational techniques, including using the model organism Drosophila to identify conserved cellular pathways across metazoans.
