Brendan Browne
- Department of Urology
Assistant Professor
Overview
Dr. Brendan Browne received his MD degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine, after which he did his general surgery internship and urology residency at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA. His primary clinical focus is in general urology and endourology, including prostatic enlargement (BPH), kidney stones, and treatment of urologic cancers.
Dr. Browne has established a program for the treatment of severe prostatic enlargement at Emory, which is the first in the state of Georgia to offer Holmium Laser Enucleation of Prostate (HoLEP). The HoLEP procedure is a unique, endoscopic therapy for prostates that are too large for standard transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).
He has published articles in a number of leading journals, including The Journal of Urology, Journal of Endourology, and Clinical Genitourinary Cancer, as well as book chapters on genitourinary pathology and the history of urology. His primary practice locations are Emory University Hospital, Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, and Emory University Hospital Midtown.
