Research

Focus

  • The long-term research focus in my laboratory is to elucidate molecular mechanisms involved in HIV genomic hypermutability, which enables HIV to evolve and escape from various selective pressures including anti-retroviral therapy, during the course of infection. Our research path starts from biochemical and enzymological understanding of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, which provides us with hypotheses which are eventually tested in tissue culture based systems, or possibly in animal models.
