Anna Woodbury
Overview
Dr. Anna Woodbury founded the Division for Pain Management at the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (VAHCS) in Atlanta in 2014 and served as the Associate Program Director for the Emory Multidisciplinary Pain Fellowship from 2016-2021. She now serves as the Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Anesthesiology. She is double board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and licensed to practice Acupuncture. She is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Emory University School of Medicine and active in research at both Emory and the VA. She was elected to the Board of Directors for the United States Association for the Study of Pain (USASP) in 2023, is the Vice Chair for the Abstract Review Subcommittee on Chronic and Cancer Pain, and has served multiple terms as a member of the national Committee on Pain Medicine for the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). She has edited Pain Management Board Review Books, served on editorial boards, and written multiple book chapters. Dr. Woodbury is a federally funded researcher and serves on grant review committees for the NIH and VA. She has presented nationally and internationally and written book chapters, articles and clinical reviews on integrative medicine and its applications for chronic pain management, anesthesia and neuroprotection. Her clinical expertise and research interests include the use of interventional, neuromodulatory and complementary therapies for the non-narcotic management of pain. Her goal is to understand the neural bases of chronic pain in order to innovate and evaluate novel therapies that maximize benefit while reducing risk, improving quality of life and function for her patients.
