Atul Vats, MD, FCCM, is a Critical Care Medicine Physician at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta and Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Vats received his medical degree and residency training from the University of Kansas prior to completing his pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Vats is actively involved in efforts to decrease unplanned extubations in children. He is also focused on merging operations and academics.

Focus
- My research focuses on efficiency, resource optimization, and improving physician workflow. Additionally, I am studying the impact of protocolized sedation/analgesia (including daily holidays) in ventilated patients. Also: the impact of B-natriuretic peptide in critical illness, therapies for traumatic brain injury, and analysis of exhaled breath condensate in respiratory failure.
