Ankit Patel
Overview
Beginning with the pursuit of his BS in chemistry, Emory has been Dr. Patel's academic base. He joined our faculty after completing his endosurgery fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Edward Lin and Dr. Scott Davis, whom he joined as part of the bariatric surgery team at the Emory Bariatric Center located at Emory University Hospital Midtown.
Dr. Patel is interested in integrating GI surgery with technology and robotics, reviewing outcomes for combined paraesophageal hernia repair with sleeve gastrectomy in obese patients, developing quality metrics for robotic surgery, and building a robotic education and training curriculum for residents.
Dr. Patel was the lead editor of the 2017 SAGES Manual of Robotic Surgery, published by Springer. The book presents a comprehensive approach to various applications of surgical techniques and procedures performed with the robotic surgical platform, and was written by experts in the field. Dr. Patel himself co-authored two chapters.
