Overview
Aliza Wingo, MD is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Emory University, Staff Psychiatrist at the Atlanta VA, and Graduate Faculty of the Emory University Laney Graduate School, Division of Genetics and Molecular Biology. Dr. Wingo investigates the genetic and molecular basis of trauma-related conditions (resilience, PTSD, and depression) and their protective or detrimental effects on dementia risk using genetic, epigenetic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data. Dr. Wingo has received a Research Fellowship Award from the American Psychiatric Association, a Career Development Award, and currently seven federal grants to pursue her research inquiries. Dr. Wingo has led original research published in Biological Psychiatry, Molecular Psychiatry, Nature Communications, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Genetics, and Nature Medicine.
