Ayesha Iqbal MD
Overview
Dr. Iqbal graduated from the Medical College of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in Pune, India. She underwent a year of postgraduate training in the ophthalmology program at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Pune before moving to the United States. At Emory University, she completed her postgraduate training in internal medicine in 2004, followed by a rheumatology fellowship. She transitioned to full-time faculty after completion of her fellowship in 2006.
Dr. Iqbal is primarily based at the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). She is responsible for the outpatient and inpatient rheumatology consult service at the Atlanta VAMC. She is also involved in teaching medical students and residents throughout various departments of the Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Iqbal's clinical interest lies in inflammatory eye diseases and their management. She has an inflammatory eye diseases clinic at the Atlanta VAMC and works closely with the eye clinic there. She is also interested in musculo-skeletal (Msk) ultrasound. She currently has an ultrasound clinic at the Atlanta VAMC and is actively involved in teaching the Msk ultrasound process to Emory rheumatology fellows.
