Adam De La Garza
Overview
Adam de la Garza, MD, joined Emory Eye Center in March 2019. He is part of the oculoplastics, orbital, and cosmetic surgery division.
Dr. de la Garza graduated magna cum laude from Wheaton College with a bachelor of arts degree in Biblical Studies/Theology. He then earned his MD from Wake Forest University and completed a one-year transitional program with Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. He returned to Wake Forest for his ophthalmology residency and completed his ASOPRS oculoplastics fellowship at the University of Iowa.
He earned his American Board of Ophthalmology certification in 2011. He has been an invited guest presenter at numerous meetings, including serving as co-instructor for the blepharoplasty course during the American Academy of Ophthalmologys annual meeting for eight years.
During medical school, I was drawn to ophthalmology, otolaryngology, oncology, plastic surgery, and dermatology, de la Garza says. Fortunately, oculoplastics allows me to continue to enjoy aspects of all of these diverse fields.
