A. Alfred Chahine
Overview
Dr. A. Alfred Chahine received his MD at St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Hospital, did a research fellowship in transplantation immunology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and completed his pediatric surgery fellowship at Emory.
Prior to joining the faculty at Emory, Dr. Chahine was associate professor of clinical surgery and pediatrics at The George Washington School of Medicine & Health Sciences and an attending surgeon at Children's National Health System in Washington, DC. He also served as chief of pediatric surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital from 2002-2017 and program director of the general surgery training program from 2007-2016.
Dr. Chahine is considered an exceptional educator, and has won more than 20 teaching awards. He has been a leader in the Association of Program Directors in Surgery, organizing their annual "New Program Directors Workshop"; is a leader on the Advisory Council for the Surgical Council on Resident Education (SCORE); and is currently a member of the editorial board of the SCORE Portal.
