Marianne Ruby, MD Award in Obstetrics and Gynecology

This award is intended to provide support for a third or fourth year medical student to conduct research in an area that will advance knowledge and understanding of issues impacting women from menarche through menopause.



The Marianne Ruby, MD Award was established by the family of Dr. Marianne Ruby to support a third or fourth year student strongly committed to the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Ruby received her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine, and she is currently on the faculty at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

$1,250 per award* Funding

*Awards will be managed by the Department to support a discovery phase or MPH/MSCR thesis project

Eligible Applicants

  • Rising third year or a third year MD, MD/MPH or MD/MSCR student strongly committed to the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology
  • Proposed research project responsive to one of the priority areas
  • Applicant's primary research mentor must have a faculty appointment in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics

The award recipient will submit a final written report at the conclusion of the funding period to the Department Chair. One awardee will be selected to present findings at the Department’s annual research day event.
