Undergrad Institution; Degree and Major:

Harvard College, BA, Biology

Medical School:

  • Emory School of Medicine

In practice since:

2017

Your Specialty:

Rheumatology

How did you choose your specialty?

I enjoy outpatient medicine, longitudinal relationships. I am interested in a multi-disciplinary approach as well as the immune system and helping people move more by treating inflammatory arthritis. Also, rheumatic disease can affect individuals with low resources and I am interested in the challenge of treating rheumatic disease in a low resource setting.

What do you like MOST, and like LEAST, about your specialty?

I like watching young patients who might be really sick get better. I don't like watching patients not take care of themselves or not have access to care. I do not like not being able to treat patients due to prior authorizations.

In your opinion, what attributes are important in anyone choosing this specialty?

  • Patience
  • Enjoy teaching patients to be in it for the long haul as chronic disease takes time to treat

Hobbies/special interests:

  • Swimming
  • Pure Barre
  • Hiking
  • Spanish
  • Music
