Otolaryngology with a subspecialty in laryngology
How did you choose your specialty?
Initial experience on the service as a third year medical student, followed by continued interest and skill as I stayed involved with the department.
What do you like MOST, and like LEAST, about your specialty?
What I like most is the specialized yet complex anatomy as it allows me to feel very proficient in my work. I like that patients are usually motivated and seek us out for improvement in their health and quality of life. I like least that it is a continually changing field and can at times provide some frustration with advocating for your patients to third parties such as employers, hospitals, and insurance companies.
