How did you choose your specialty?
It was kind of in my blood, I am a 3rd generation otolaryngologist (grandfather and Dad), and as much as I tried liking a different specialty, I came back to the head & neck anatomy and variety of pathologies and treatment modalities in the field. Assisting on a parotidectomy and watching how my Dad did a facial nerve dissection did it for me.
What do you like MOST, and like LEAST, about your specialty?
Most: We love our “toys”, we do surgery with laser, drills, saws, microscopes, endoscopes, and robots. It makes for a fun practice both in the clinic and in the OR.
Least: The paperwork that comes with the practice of medicine which at times it can get in the way of patient care.
