What Other Costs Will I Incur?

Each year the Financial Aid Office must estimate all normal expenses incurred by students in each academic program. In addition to tuition and fees, they include estimates for books, supplies, transportation, health insurance, food, rent, utilities, etc. This estimate is called the Cost of Attendance.

The estimated Cost of Attendance for the 2014-15 academic year (Fall 2014/Spring 2015/Summer 2015) is approximately $56,000 to $61,000. This covers a 12-month period. When comparing costs at other programs, make sure you are comparing the same period of time.

How Much Should I Expect to Borrow for the Entire Genetic Counseling Program?

The average debt for the Class of 2014, our first graduating class, was $45,801.

Are There Programs That Can Reduce My Indebtedness?

Students who work for a public or other non-profit employer may qualify to have the balance of their loans forgiven after 10 years of repayment through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. See www.studentaid.ed.gov/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation
