Chinedu Okpukpara named Chief of Anesthesiology
Chinedu Okpukpara (anesthesiology) has been named Chief of Anesthesiology for the Grady Health System. Chinedu served as the interim chief over the last year where he oversaw significant anesthesia growth. He was selected for the role after an extensive national search.

Emory at Grady Faculty Awards
|
The fourth annual Emory at Grady Faculty Awards celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of faculty members over the past year. At the ceremony, 82 individuals across many departments within the School of Medicine were honored. This ceremony recognized 7 Emory at Grady-specific awards that highlight the incredible work by Emory faculty who work on Grady’s campus. View ceremony video and photos.

Above & Beyond Award
The Emory at Grady Above and Beyond Award recognizes a faculty member whose performance goes beyond the expectation of their position and advances the mission and vision of the School of Medicine. This year's winners were Amanda Sanders Ma (medicine) and Matthew Zygmont (radiology and imaging sciences).

Advocacy Award
The Emory at Grady Advocacy Award recognizes a faculty member's significant contribution in the field of advocacy. This year's winners were Jane Ellis (gynecology and obstetrics) and David Gimbel (neurosurgery) .

|
Best Colleague Award
The Emory at Grady Best Colleague Award recognizes a faculty member who shows support of their colleagues and can always be counted on to be available to help their colleagues. This year's winners were Michael Connor (medicine) and William Knaus (surgery).

|
Career Impact Award
The Emory at Grady Career Impact Award recognizes a faculty member whose dedication to the mission of Grady Health System has been evident over a long period of time. This year's winner was Lisa Flowers (gynecology and obstetrics).

|
Community Impact Award
The Emory at Grady Community Impact Award recognizes faculty whose work has elevated our community at the level of our school, hospital system, or the city and counties that we serve. This year's winners were Stacie Schmidt (medicine) and Randi Smith (surgery).

|
|
Innovation Award
The Emory at Grady Innovation Award recognizes faculty whose innovation in research, education, service, quality, or leadership has made a major impact at Grady. This year's winners were Jennifer Lom (medicine) and Matthew Zygmont (radiology and imaging sciences).

|
Team-Based Award
The Emory at Grady Team-Based Award recognizes teams (of at least 3-4 members) of faculty and/or staff committed to a common purpose or goal toward advancing the mission and vision of the Emory School of Medicine. This year's winner was Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center Team.

Health Equity Day call for abstracts
|

RYSE and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council invite you to submit an abstract and/or award application for the 2024 Health Equity Day. Poster presentation categories include research, clinical quality, professional development, education, and community advocacy and policy. The Outstanding Scientific Citation RYSE Award will support and recognize rising URiM researchers producing outstanding research publications in all research areas. Learn more.
