Allen's Pic

Allen serves as the Associate Director in the Office of Multicultural Affairs supporting the strategic and operational oversight for the unit.  He is the Case Manager for the National HCOP Academy at Emory (Emory HCOP Academy) and the Program Manager for the Emory Pipeline Collaborative (EPiC). EPiC is a partnership with Atlanta Public Schools that brings together student volunteers from across Emory's undergraduate, graduate and professional schools to support health care exposure for high school students. EPiC and the other Emory HCOP Academy programs are supported by a grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services. Allen's other duties include assisting with the recruitment and retention of individuals traditionally underrepresented in Medicine and working as a liaison to the school's Latino Medical Student Association and the Emory Medical Alliance.

Allen has a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a Concentration in African Diaspora from Davidson College and a Master's in the Art of Teaching from Georgia State University. He has held Georgia teaching certifications in History and Behavioral Science. Allen has nearly 20 years of experience designing educational programming for various educational environments including schools, museums and professional development. For 10 of these years he worked in Atlanta Public Schools where he was named Teacher of the Year for South Atlanta High School in 2014.
