Emory University has been training leaders in cardiology for more than fifty years. The goal of this ACGME-accredited program is to train leaders in cardiovascular medicine through structured and systematic instruction in the science and art of cardiovascular disease. Our training program emphasizes understanding of the entire spectrum of cardiovascular pathophysiology, from the molecular and cellular level to organ function and clinical presentation. Similarly, fellows receive excellent training in direct patient care, from bedside diagnosis to incorporation of state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic management, with an emphasis on evidence-based and guideline-oriented diagnosis and therapy.
The curriculum provides comprehensive training in the evaluation and management of a wide variety of patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases. During training, each fellow is exposed to both intensive didactic instruction and substantial direct patient care encounters in Emory's four major training sites, which represent diverse patient populations and practice environments. Our program also provides substantive opportunities for fellows to gain experience and skills in basic and clinical research and quality improvement. Together, these experiences equip fellows to become leaders in academic medicine and research and to diagnose and care for a multitude of cardiovascular diseases including:
- Acute and chronic coronary artery disease
- Acute and chronic heart failure
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Lipid disorders
- Hypertension
- Cardiomyopathy
- Valvular heart disease
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Infectious and inflammatory heart disease
- Adult congenital heart disease
We accept applications through the ERAS website and they should be submitted by July 15. We do accept applicants with J1 and H1B visas.

Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Pathways
- Cardiovascular Research Scientist Pathway is a four-year program aimed at training MD and MD/PhD clinician scientists interested in pursuing a career in academic basic science research cardiology. Two years of protected, mentored research training is followed by two years of clinical training leading to board eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease.
- Academic Clinical Investigator Pathway is a four-year program aimed at training MD and MD/MPH clinician scientists interested in pursuing a career in academic outcomes cardiology focused on clinical or translational research. Two years of mentored research training is followed by two years of clinical training, leading to board eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease.
- Clinical Cardiovascular Pathway is a three-year program aimed at preparing clinician-educators with a broad exposure to all aspects of clinical cardiology.
