Who’s eligible: Any principal investigator affiliated with Emory or Georgia Tech (see other qualification requirements below)
Biolocity provides funding, project management and consulting resources to university entrepreneurs who have early-stage technologies that address an unmet need in any clinical discipline – and have commercial potential to impact patient health.
In each funding cycle, over $1.5 million in funding is available. There is no funding limit per project; however, budgets in the application process are based on milestones identified as the most critical “next step” for development and commercialization.
Funding cycles are annual, and applications typically open in October or November.
Beyond funding, Biolocity also offers support for:
- Technology development
- Project management
- Strategy and business planning
- Marketing, regulatory and reimbursement advising
- Intellectual property rights must be held (at least in part) by either Emory University or Georgia Tech.
- At least one principal investigator must be affiliated with Emory or Georgia Tech.
- Technology must positively impact human health, with compelling evidence for commercial potential.
- Projects with two principal investigators are preferred – one technical expert and one clinical expert.
