Program Description
The Emory Innovation Certificate Program is designed to develop and enrich entrepreneurial skills and business knowledge for faculty and staff interested in learning how to bring technologies to market. The program is directed by Steven Goudy (otolaryngology) and Adam Klein (otolaryngology head and neck surgery) and will include speakers from across the Atlanta Innovation ecosystem from Biolocity, Georgia Tech, Goizueta Business School, Georgia Research Alliance, Emory Office of Tech Transfer and others.
Topics
Program topics will focus on stages of the commercialization process from identifying a gap in the market and generating a concept to funding a startup and identifying an exit strategy.
Time Commitment and Project Structure
The program encompasses eight (8) in-person, 2.5-hour sessions held approximately once a month on a Wednesday evening. Dinner is included for each session. Once accepted into the program, participants will be grouped into project teams and apply their learnings to identify a real unmet clinical need, propose a technology solution and develop a plan to bring it to market. Each session will include a presentation/lecture followed by designated time to work on team projects. The course culminates in pitch presentations for the last session held in May.
