Dunwoody Golf Tournament Supports Prostate Cancer Research at Winship
July 2019
The Dunwoody Country Club's Champions Golf Association donated $380,000 for prostate cancer research at Winship Cancer Institute. The funds were raised during the annual John H. Kauffman Prostate Cancer Golf Fundraiser on May 15, 2019.
Specifically, gifts from the Dunwoody Golf Fundraiser are used to contribute toWinship's prostate cancer research pilot grant opportunityfor Emory faculty. Each year, innovative proposals that address prostate cancer research including but not limited to basic or translational research, investigator initiated clinical trials, health disparities, imaging, survivorship, or quality of life are considered for funding.
The Winship prostate cancer pilot grant program is designed to enhance the development of a robust prostate cancer research program at Winship. It is expected that submitted proposals will lead to the submission of extramural grant proposals seeking peer-reviewed funding from the National Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society, Veteran's Administration, Department of Defense, or other Federal/Foundation funding.
