Emory Urology's Tania Wieker Solomon, MMSc, PA-C, is establishing a 12 month, full-time physician assistant residency in urology at the Emory University School of Medicine. The program will accept two residents per year, and grant a residency certificate.
The mission of the Emory physician assistant residency in urology will be to provide a broad-based educational experience to certified physician assistants in the diagnosis and treatment of urological conditions using clinical and didactic components. The program will emphasize patient care, medical knowledge, communication skills, and professionalism. Its objectives will include exposing the resident to patients in outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings, as well as involving residents in the perioperative process.
The PA residents will rotate at Emory University Hospital, The Emory Clinic, and Winship Cancer Institute. The Emory University School of Medicine is affiliated with additional area hospitals, including Grady Memorial Hospital, which contains a Level 1 trauma center; Emory Midtown Hospital; and the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The final goal of the residency will be to empower the resident to gain the confidence and experience necessary to practice in a urology setting of their choice.
