Rewarding Excellence
The Dr. Richard V. Remigailo Emory Urology Resident Excellence Award is given annually to acknowledge and reward outstanding Emory Urology resident achievement.
Dr Remigailo grew up in Arlington, Virginia, and received a BA (1965) and MD (1969) from Duke University. After surgical residency at the NY Hospital (1971) and service in the US Navy, he completed urology residency at Emory (1976) and pursued private urologic practice for 33 years in Decatur, Georgia, where he was Dekalb Medical Center Chief of Urology from 1998-2002. He has volunteered as a Urologic Attending at the Atlanta VA Hospital since 2010.
When asked what inspired the endowed award, Richard said that he enjoyed the continuing education and collegial fellowship in the Emory Urology Department from residency and into retirement. While assisting with residency training, he was impressed by the skills, curiosity and dedication of the residents and faculty and is happy to have the opportunity to recognize their accomplishments.
