More than 4,000 Pediatric Urological Surgeries are Performed Annually at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
Established in 1975, the Pediatric Urology Fellowship is a collaboration between Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University School of Medicine, and Georgia Urology Pediatrics. Children's three primary facilities, Children's at Egleston Hospital, Children's at Scottish Rite Hospital, and Children's at Hughes Spalding Hospital, have grown into one of the largest pediatric hospital systems in the U.S. The faculty for the fellowship are board-certified pediatric urologists. Overview
The first year of the Pediatric Urology Fellowship is focused on clinical training. An interdisciplinary approach is employed, particularly in the care of patients with cancer and neurogenic bladder dysfunction.
During the clinical year, the fellow will gain extensive surgical experience in open, laparoscopic, and robotic pediatric urology cases. Competency is developed in all major areas of pediatric urology practice including:

The second fellowship year is 20% clinical, with the remaining majority of time devoted to research. Our pediatric urology team's research interests include esicoureteral reflux, ureteropelvic junction obstruction, urolithiasis, hypospadias, and urinary tract reconstruction.

Eligibility Criteria

Completion of an ACGME-accredited urology residency in the U.S. or Canada

Eligible for the American Board of Urology certification examination

Eligible for a Georgia state medical license
Application Process

Submit a Universal Pediatric Urology Fellowship Application Form, including a personal statement, curriculum vitae, in-service board scores for the previous year, and three letters of recommendation (one letter should be from the chair of the department of urology and another from the director of pediatric urology at the applicant's institution).

Send application to Justice H. Farmer, Fellowship Program Coordinator, in the winter before the chief residency year.

Interviews are held in the spring before the chief residency year.
