Sudeshna Sil Kar focuses her research on AI-based, machine learning technologies for predicting therapeutic response to different retinal disorders, ophthalmologic disease prognosis, finding associations between different retinal features and systemic and neurodegenerative disorders. Her current projects involve finding associations between retinal vascular features and Alzheimer's disease as well as on evaluating radiomic features for predicting anti-VEGF therapy treatment response for diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema.
Dr. Sil Kar earned a PhD from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology in Shibpur, Howrah, India, as well as a master of engineering degree in electronics and telecommunication from Jadavpur University. Prior to arriving at Emory, she served as a research associate at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
