Admission Criteria for the RT to BMSc Medical Imaging Program
Welcome to your future! The RT to BMSc Medical Imaging Program welcomes applicants who meet the following requirements:
- Satisfatory completion of a program of study in medical imaging (certificate, diploma, or associate degree program). All courses taken to satisfy this requirement must be taken at a regionally accredited or JRCERT accredited institution.
- Applicants must hold current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent organization.
- Graduation from an accredited high school with a GPA of 2.0 or higher or high school equivalent diploma (GED) with a composite score of at least 50 percent.
- Minimum SAT score (critical reading + math sections) of 900 or a minimum composite ACT score of 19. Candidates who can substantiate for the Admissions Committee through written documentation of their academic and professional experience that they are prepared for success in the program may request a waiver of the SAT/ACT requirement.
- International students from non-English-speaking countries must also have an overall score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT exam.
- This program is not eligible for students on F-1 or J-1 visas.
- Satisfactory completion (grade C or better) of at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of undergraduate courses taken at a regionally accredited institution distributed as follows:
- 10 semester hours (15 quarter hours) in Humanities and Arts
- Composition I (required)
- Composition II or Literature (required)
- Other humanities and arts: 2 courses in one or more of the following fields: intermediate language, classics, philosophy, English, religion, film/media studies, dance, theater, music, art history, visual or studio arts.
- 10 semester hours (15 quarter hours) in the Social Sciences
- General or Introductory Psychology (required)
- U.S. History (required)
- Non-U.S. History or area studies (required)
- Electives as needed to meet the 10-hour requirement in any of the following fields: political science, sociology, economics, anthropology, women's and gender studies, African American studies, ethnic studies.
- 10 semester hours (15 quarter hours) in natural and mathematical science
- College Algebra (required)
- Anatomy and Physiology I & II with lab (required)
- Introductory Computer Science or other computer course by review (required)
- Electives as needed to meet the 10 semester hour requirement in any of the following fields: biology, chemistry, physics, statistics, mathematics, environmental sciences.
- Graduates of foreign institutions must present transcripts of at least one full academic year (preferably in the sciences and in English) from an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
- 10 semester hours (15 quarter hours) in Humanities and Arts
- Attended one of the RT to BMSc Program Information Sessions.
The application process described below provides the opportunity to submit documentation of having satisfied all of these eligibility requirements.
The Application Process
The online application for the RT to BMSc Medical Imaging Program for professionals who already hold an associate's degree in medical imaging is now available. We look forward to receiving your application.
The application form must be completed online and all additional documents required for the application must be submitted, preferrably in one packet, to the program office by February 1.
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria described above and who submit complete applications by February 1 will be invited to a required interview as part of the application process. Interviews are scheduled in mid-February.

As you complete the application, you may notice the application "refreshing" as you enter information. This is normal as the data you enter is being verified based on the tables within our application system. By this design, we are able to process application data with greater speed and accuracy.

Putting Together Your Application
The application consists of the following elements and all must be submitted by February 1:
- $50.00 application fee
- Online application form
- Personal statement
- Official high school transcript or official GED scores (as applicable)
- Official college transcript for each college or technical school attended*
- Official transcript from the radiography program (certificate/diploma/college) attended
- Standardized test scores from either the SAT or ACT**
- ARRT scores must be submitted along with documentation of current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent organization.
- Three letters of recommendation (download the Recommendation Form).
- Graduates of foreign institutions must present transcripts of at least one full academic year (preferably in the sciences and in English) from an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
- International students from non-English-speaking countries must also submit evidence of an overall score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT exam.
After receipt of the application packet, the applicant will be contacted to
- Inform the applicant if any additional documents are required.
- Schedule the required personal interview (see below).

Test Scores and Transcripts
*If core curriculum classes are in progress, please submit a current transcript at time of application and a final transcript when all core classes are completed. If an institution will only send a transcript directly to the program office, please indicate in your application packet that the transcript is being sent separately.
**All applicants, regardless of past educational experience, must submit scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test of the College Entrance Examination Board (institutional code 5700) or the American College Test. A minimum composite SAT score (critical reading + math sections) of 900 or a minimum composite ACT score of 19 is recommended for admission.
Candidates who wish to request a waiver of the SAT/ACT requirement must include in their application packet written documentation of their academic and professional experience (at minimum a complete CV) to substantiate for the Admissions Committee that they are prepared for success in the program.
Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation are required. At least one letter should come from someone who can speak to your academic skills, such as a former instructor or advisor from your prior medical imaging program. Other letters may come from a former or current work colleague or supervisor, an individual from a professional association or program in which you are active, or other person who can speak to your professional skills and promise.
Letters can be submitted in one of two ways:
- Online Recommendation Form (requires creating a User ID and Password)
- Reference Form (PDF) to be included in the application packet as a PDF
International Students Information
All international students must complete this Financial Certificate form which certifies you have sufficient funds to cover your expenses while attending Emory University.
Medical insurance is mandatory for international students at Emory University. All international students automatically will be enrolled in the Accident and Sickness Insurance for Emory University Students. Once accepted, each student will receive further information about the mandatory insurance regulation from the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).
