Thank you for interest in applying to the Emory University Interventional Radiology Residency Program. Our applicants come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We seek candidates who have diversity in both their academic and personal experiences. For this application year, we will have four positions in the Interventional Radiology - Integrated Residency Program as part of the Medical Student Match in March. A select number of positions may be available to current diagnostic radiology residents through ESIR and up to six positions are available in the fellowship-comparable Interventional Radiology Independent Residency Program.
Applications for the Interventional Radiology Integrated Residency Program, the Interventional Radiology Independent Residency Program, and ESIR must be made through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We fill our Interventional Radiology Residency Program positions through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
Application Requirements
- ERAS application including your personal statement
- Three letters of recommendation
- Medical school transcript
- Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE), sometimes called the "Dean's Letter"
- USMLE Step I score
- Applicants must complete or have completed at least one year of ACGME-accredited postgraduate training in a clinical specialty such as internal medicine, transitional year, or surgery
Applications are accepted beginning in September of each application year according to the ERAS timeline set each year by the AAMC. All application materials must be received by the ERAS November deadline; materials received after that date may not be considered. Our receipt of the medical school transcript and all other application materials, with the exception of the Dean's letter, by October 1 may facilitate an early screening of your application for an interview.
A personal interview is required and is granted at the discretion of the program director and/or Residency Selection Committee. Applications are reviewed in total and take into consideration aspects of the applicant's experiences including USMLE score(s); letters of recommendation; evaluations/grades during preclinical and clinical years; membership in AOA; and research. Participation in projects or research related to interventional radiology and in the Society of Interventional Radiology shows commitment to the field. If an interview is offered, the applicant will be contacted by the Residency Program Director's Office.
If you are interested in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program you will have to apply separately. If you are offered an interview for both programs, they will take place on the same day.
