Application
The Emory Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences in partnership with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta offers a one-year non-ACGME-accredited pediatric neuroradiology fellowship providing comprehensive training in pediatric neuroradiology. Candidates must (1) have completed an ACGME-accredited U.S. or Canadian radiology residency program, (2) have completed or be enrolled in an accredited fellowship program in neuroradiology or pediatric radiology, (3) have or be able to obtain a full unrestricted Georgia Medical License, and (4) be board-eligible/certified in diagnostic radiology. Please see the Georgia Composite Medical Board website for details about medical licensing.
Our fellowship program accepts applications beginning August 1 of each year. Interviews will be offered beginning the first week of November.

About the Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship
The Emory/Children’s Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship program features comprehensive training in all aspects of pediatric neuroradiology at one of the largest pediatric healthcare centers in the U.S. Children's is a LEvel 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.
The goal is to prepare fellows for serving children in their communities and to support achievement of the fellow’s career goals, whether in academic medicine or in private practice. Extensive opportunities abound for fellows interested in a research-oriented career path.
Fellows work independently under the supervision of the pediatric neuroradiology team. Training emphasizes constructing concise and accurate imaging reports that provide the most helpful information for clinical partners. Fellows learn targeted protocoling so they keep in mind sedation and contrast administration indications, appropriateness of rapid and high-resolution MR imaging, and best imaging modality for safe and accurate diagnosis. Our team of imaging technologists, physicists, medical imaging nurses, anesthesiologists, sedation specialists, and child-life experts are valuable partners in providing safe neuroimaging examinations of the highest quality.
The program is one of three pediatric imaging fellowships offered by Emory Radiology's Division of Pediatric Imaging in partnership with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Clinical Sites
Pediatric neuroimaging services are provided at the following locations:
- Children's Hospitals: Children’s Egleston Hospital, Children’s Hughes Spalding Hospital, and Children’s Scottish Rite Hospital.
- Children's Outpatient Clinics: Children’s at Satellite Boulevard, Children’s at Town Center, and Children’s at Webb Bridge.
- Emory University Hospital Midtown (NICU) and Grady Memorial Hospital.
- Pediatric interventional procedures performed at Emory University Hospital.
Training
Pediatric neuroradiology fellows complete training in the following:
- Brain, spine, head, and neck neuroimaging

Research and Academic Time
Emory Radiology and Children’s are committed to excellence and innovation in pediatric and neuroradiology research. A wide spectrum of clinical and translational research takes place as part of our neuroscience program; many are multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborative efforts. An essential research partner, the Department of Pediatrics in the Emory School of Medicine is ranked second nationally in NIH-funded pediatric research.
Fellows receive one half-day of academic time per week. An academic stipend is available to all fellows. Each fellow completes at least one academic project during the course of their fellowship training and is expected to submit their work to scientific society meetings such as the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology (ASPNR), American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), and the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA), among others.
Fellows also benefit from ample opportunities throughout the fellowship to develop effective speaking and presentation skills.
