Radiation oncologists and researchers from Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University will lead presentations, posters and moderated sessions at the world’s largest scientific meeting in radiation oncology, the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting in San Diego, Oct. 1-4, 2023.
Winship faculty and trainees from Emory University School of Medicine’s Department of Radiation Oncology will join colleagues from across the globe to discuss advances in cancer clinical trials and breakthrough science. The 65th annual meeting features top research and education related to the theme, "Pay It Forward: Partnering with Our Patients."
Winship presenters will participate in 34 presentations, beginning with pre-conference seminars and programs on Sept. 30. Winship-led studies will describe new tools, techniques and multimodality therapies to better detect and treat cancer, reduce side effects and improve outcomes for patients, including those with blood, brain, breast, head and neck, lung, genitourinary and pediatric cancers.
This year’s ASTRO meeting will feature more than 2,000 abstract presentations and clinical trial reports; the Presidential Symposium and plenary sessions; a special poster session spotlighting in-progress clinical trials; and storytelling and educational sessions on topics such as equity in patient care, patient safety, radiopharmaceutical therapy and mentorship.
