The 2022 Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancers Symposium held Feb. 24-26 in Phoenix featured oral and poster presentations from faculty and residents in Emory's Department of Radiation Oncology.
Neal S. McCall, MD, a PGY4 resident, co-authored a study he presented during a plenary session titled, "Standard but Not Equal: Disparities in Advanced Radiotherapy Techniques for Head and Neck Cancer in the United States."
Poster presentations by faculty and residents during the symposium included:
- "Patient-reported outcomes in oropharyngeal cancer treated with definitive chemoradiation versus surgery with postoperative radiation with or without chemotherapy"

The conference also included presentations by colleagues in other departments.
Winship member and Professor in the Emory Department of Otolaryngology Charles E. Moore, MD, presented a keynote on "Disparities in Head and Neck Cancer."
Nabil F. Saba, MD, FACP, Professor and Vice Chair for Quality and Safety in the Emory Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology and Lynne and Howard Halpern Chair in Head and Neck Cancer Research at Winship, presented during a panel discussion on Feb. 25 on the "Mutational Landscape of Thyroid Cancers."
Other poster presentations included work by medical oncologists Dong Shin, MD, FACP, FAACS, Nabil Saba, MD, and Conor E. Steuer, MD, and oncology clinical pharmacy specialist Marin Abousaud, PharmD, BCOP.
This national symposium was planned by the American Head & Neck Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society for Radiation Oncology and Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer.
