Recipients of the award are usually no more than 10 years beyond the awarding of the doctoral degree and are typically under the age of 45. Only one award is granted in any given year.
"I am grateful to receive the 2020 AAPM Young Scientist Award," says Yang. "It is an honor to be recognized for my research efforts."
Tian Liu, PhD, associate professor and director of the Division of Medical Physics says, "Xiaofeng is an extremely accomplished medical physicist whose research has already been transformative in the field."
Dr. Yang will be honored at a ceremony during the upcoming joint AAPM and Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia from July 12 to July 16. The ceremony is scheduled for July 13, 2020 at 6:30pm in the East Ballroom AB of the Vancouver Convention Centre.
