Hui-Kuo Shu, MD and Ashesh Jani, MD, Winship Cancer Institute radiation oncologists, will be named Fellows of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) at the 60th Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, October 23rd.

Hui-Kuo Shu, MD and Ashesh Jani, MD, Winship Cancer Institute radiation oncologists, will be named Fellows of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) at the 60th Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, October 23rd.
Jani specializes in the treatment of genitourinary malignancies including bladder, prostate, kidney, testes, and urethra cancer. Shu is an expert in treating brain and spine tumors.
The ASTRO Fellow Program recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to radiation oncology through leadership/service, research, education, and patient care.
Awardees were nominated by a current ASTRO Fellow, accompanied by three letters of support from ASTRO members. A committee reviews all nominations and presents the candidates to ASTRO's Board of Directors for approval.

Both individuals join an elite group of physicians and medical physicists who are recognized for their far-reaching contributions to the field of radiation oncology and their progress in advancing cancer research, education and patient care."
This year ASTRO awarded 35 individuals with the prestigious designation. A total of 328 individual have been awarded the designation out of over 10,000 ASTRO members worldwide.
