Department of Radiation Oncology physician residents Chase Escott, MD and Nicholas Madden, MD will be honored at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Annual Conference, October 21-24, in San Antonio, Texas.
Escott, mentored by Kristin Higgins, MD, will receive the Resident Poster Viewing Recognition Award for his study in "Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors or Angiotensin Receptor Blocker use During Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy Associated with Decreased Pneumonitis: A Multi-Center Analysis." The award is given to nine residents who submit the highest-rated abstracts in the following three categories: biology, clinical practice, and physics.
Madden will receive the Resident Poster Discussion Recognition Award, in the clinical practice category for his study titled, "In Patients Over 65, Consolidative Radiation for Early Stage Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma is Associated with Decreased Hematologic Toxicity and Hospitalizations After RCHOP Compared with RCHOP Alone." His abstract was the sole digital poster discussion accepted in the clinical practice category.
