The Emory OCD & Anxiety Program is honored to train the next generation of behavioral health providers in an interdisciplinary setting. Our training program is open to graduate students and residents in psychology, psychiatry, and social work who are interested in gaining experience in the provision of evidence-based therapies.
The OCD and Anxiety Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is housed within Emory Clinic and treats primarily adults, as well as adolescents over age 15. Our patients are referred from the Emory system (students, staff, faculty) and self-referred from the community; as a result, there is significant diversity in age, sex, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, level of education, and severity of psychiatric symptoms. Primary diagnoses seen in the IOP include obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, health anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobias, as well as a range of comorbid mood disorders, trauma and stress-related disorders, and personality disorders. Treatment modalities are grounded in exposure and response prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Trainees will have the opportunity to engage in co-therapy with licensed providers during individual and family therapy sessions, individual exposure coaching, group therapy co-facilitation, intakes and consultations, medication management, research, program development, and quality improvement depending on interest and training needs. Trainees are considered integral members of the team and participate in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings in addition to individual and group supervision.
