The mission of the general psychiatry residency program is to prepare our trainees to become the next generation of leaders in clinical care, education, research and advocacy.
Aims
- Provide residents with comprehensive training in psychiatry that emphasizes a holistic, biopsychosocial and cultural understanding of mental illness.
- Train physicians to provide high-quality, evidence-based and person-centered mental health care and promote lifelong learning and innovation in the context of a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
- Develop psychiatrists who are prepared to meet the mental health needs of the communities in which they practice, are passionate about eliminating mental health care disparities and advocate for the achievement of health equity.
- Foster the recruitment, retention and development of a diverse group of trainees with a variety of experiences, identities, and backgrounds.
- Provide residents with a robust didactic and experiential learning experience related to psychotherapy.
- Model the highest standards of professionalism, including adherence to ethical principles and cultural humility and advocating for health equity and eliminating mental health care disparities.
- Promote an inclusive and equitable environment supportive to physician well-being and tailored to achieving personal goals.
