Punita graduated from the University of Akron with a major in Natural Sciences. She then attended medical School at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA). Throughout medical school, Punita has been dedicated to serving vulnerable populations. She helped manage The Student Run Free Clinic as Assistant Chief and Communications & Marketing Chair. She also was involved in research projects and publications regarding the geriatric community and prison system. Punita is highly involved in advocacy and served as the Vice President of the American Medical Association (AMA) at NEOMED and attended multiple conferences to propose legislation through The Ohio State Medical Association, AMA, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her interest in psychiatry grew through her volunteer experiences surrounding homelessness, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Outside of studying she loves playing tennis, piano, dancing (Bhangra and Bollywood), exploring food venues and traveling.
