Chance Ortego attended Tulane University for both his undergraduate studies and medical education. In undergraduate, he graduated summa cum laude, double majoring in Neuroscience and Anthropology. He received multiple academic awards, including the Elizabeth Watts Award for an Outstanding Student in Physical Anthropology. During medical school, he concurrently earned his MPH degree with a concentration in Global Health Management and Policy. Throughout his career, he has been committed to community service and working with the underserved. In medical school, he was a clinic leader for Bridge House (a facility for substance users in recovery), a liaison for the Homeless Hospital Program at Tulane, and volunteered with the Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine. He also served as a student interviewer, student ambassador, and orientation committee member at Tulane. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, running, and spending time with his two cats.
