Benjamin Maxey

Ben attended Southern Methodist University for college where he studied electrical engineering before going to Louisiana State University in Shreveport for medical school. In medical school, he authored numerous publications and developed a novel technology that will be used to train medical personnel in administering emergency manual ventilation. He also has been involved in volunteering in the community, serving on the hospital’s COVID vaccination team and volunteering as a summer camp counselor for children with developmental disabilities. At LSU, Ben was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and earned the distinction of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA).

• Professional Interests: Forensic and correctional psychiatry. Ben's research interests focus on how neuroimaging findings correlate with psychopathology and neuroimaging’s potential use in screening and diagnosis of psychiatric disorders, as well as the use of neuroimaging as evidence in criminal trials.
• Future Plans: Considering a fellowship in forensic psychiatry. At this point, unknown in which setting (academics, private practice, etc.) he will practice.

• Hobbies: Powerlifting, photography, especially wildlife photography and music (playing piano, guitar, pipe organ)
